Let’s break it down:

Something as simple as toilet paper shouldn’t be overlooked for hidden toxins. Most brands prioritize softness and whiteness over safety forgetting that our skin, especially the most delicate areas, absorbs what we use daily.

The gentle truth:

Most conventional toilet paper isn’t as “clean” as it looks. Bleach and chlorine are used to make it bright white but these leave behind toxic residues like dioxins, known hormone disruptors. Formaldehyde is added for strength and softness (yes, really) but it's a skin irritant, especially for sensitive areas. Synthetic fragrance and dyes are often used to create that “fresh” scent or ultra-white look but they can trigger allergies and inflammation.

Choose with care:
• Unbleached or processed chlorine-free (PCF)

• No dioxins or harsh whitening agents
• Fragrance-free and dye-free
• Recycled or bamboo-based
• Certified by FSC or EWG Verified

We have experimented for years in our home and have found PlantPaper to be the best fit for our family.

  • The rolls are made from 100% FSC-certified bamboo (not trees) which is a strong sustainability and lower-impact raw material choice while being both soft and durable.

  • They are lab-certified 100% free of bleach, formaldehyde and PFAS including specific mention of 6 major PFAS and 22 additional compounds. I have reviewed all independent lab results- 3 examples are shown below.
