Hello!
I’m Karen- a mom of three plus one exchange student, a dog mom to two, an educator, and a lifelong advocate for healthy living and wellness. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies and a Master’s in Education, and I’ve been fortunate to live all over the country and travel much of the world. Originally from Central New York, I now share life’s adventures with my husband in sunny South Florida, and together we’ve built a family that values curiosity, balance, and wellness.

Clean living became more than an interest, it became a necessity after I was diagnosed with autoimmune diseases and mold toxicity. Through my own journey of research, recovery and resilience, I discovered how profoundly our environment affects our bodies. That’s why A Safer Haven was born: to help other families make informed, meaningful changes that create healthier, happier and more nurturing homes.
Here, I combine my background in environmental science and education with my passion for holistic health, translating complex information into practical, family-friendly guidance. Because when our homes are healthier, our families can truly thrive.
But remember- don’t let perfection be the enemy of progress. You don’t have to overhaul everything overnight. Start where you are, make mindful swaps when you can, and celebrate each step toward a cleaner, healthier lifestyle.
From my home to yours- welcome to A Safer Haven.
I’m so glad you’re here.
